Position: Group Purchasing Manager Property
Property GNFR Goods and Services and Equipment. This category includes Property New Build, Revamp, Repairs, Maintenance and Facilities Equipment and Services
Reports to: Head of Purchasing who reports to Group GNFR Purchasing Director
Location: Southampton
Salary: Up to £60k plus car
The Role:
Deliver sustainable benefits (cost savings, reduced risk to supply) to the business from purchasing and supply management of the Property categories
families of expenditure. Work closely and coordinate with Group Purchasing Manager Property France and other European Opcos as appropriate in identifying and delivering synergies.
Key activities
Stakeholder engagement
· Secure stakeholder involvement in all purchasing and supply management activities
· Create teams representing relevant functions and operating companies in order to carry out PSM activities as a team
· Develop great working relationships with all stakeholders
· Work in a collaborative and transparent manner
Analysis and insights
· Analyse expenditure, budgets, forecasts, business plans, costs, prices supplier performance, suppliers’ capabilities, supply market dynamics, business requirements, proposals for supply, suppliers’ motivations
· Generate and share insights from analysis with stakeholders and purchasing teams
· Ensure decisions are based on facts and data
· Deploy insights and analysis to create purchasing and supply management strategies which deliver substantial business benefits
Strategic sourcing and supply management
· Understand capture and shape internal business requirements looking over a 1,3,5 year horizon as appropriate
· Deploy strategic purchasing processes, tools and techniques
· Use project management disciplines – ensure clarity of scope, measurable objectives, clear roles and responsibilities and achievable time plans
· With the team identify, evaluate, negotiate and help select suppliers who best meet business requirements
· Use Kingfishers e-sourcing tools for all supplier evaluation activities
· Create and deliver purchasing and supply management strategies which make a step change in performance
· Deliver significant benefits from purchasing and supply management in terms of cost savings, operational performance improvement and mitigation of risk
Supplier engagement
· Establish relationships with current suppliers and potential suppliers
· Drive their performance through a thorough understanding of what motivates them to perform
· Promote the opportunity for suppliers to win business across the Kingfisher group
· Ensure suppliers know what is expected from them in writing and how their performance will be assessed
· Hold suppliers accountable for their performance
Reporting
· Capture performance in line with Group Purchasing principles and reporting timetables
· Produce presentations and reports on a weekly, monthly annual basis as required by stakeholders
Responsibilities/ Decision Making
· Deploying the purchasing process appropriately relevant to the scale of expenditure, level of risk to supply and complexity of requirements
· Establishing purchasing and supply management strategies for the defined category of expenditure
· Negotiating with suppliers
· Ensuring all agreements with suppliers are in writing and in place prior to the start of business
· Delivering business benefits which meet or exceed targets
· Meeting the requirements of Kingfisher’s governance and policy manual which includes the Kingfisher Code of Conduct
Job scale – quantitative
The likely candidate will have good subject knowledge and be able to demonstrate recent relevant experience in the construction industry, including demonstrating value add materials buying and sub contracting in a managing contracting environment and/or recent retail properties facilities management experience where significant synergies and cost optimisation can be demonstrated in a multi site environment.

Personal attributes
A self starter with a good track record with the energy and drive to take it to the next level. Good interpersonal skills for consensus building and able to lead a virtual team and resilience good motivating communication and persuading skills, good team building skills, rigorous.
Able to build a strategy demonstrating cost efficiencies based on objective criteria in line with business needs, communicate and get buy in for it. Work with the in house teams to define and shape packages (influence and codefine specifications to bring about rationalisation, standardisation, identifying total cost of ownership….) lead RFPs, negotiate and deliver cost benefits. Experience with Agentrics suite a plus.
Experience required
Good technical purchasing and negotiation skills, structured approach to strategic sourcing.
In depth experience of negotiating and working with suppliers
Successful track record of making change happen including changing suppliers
Can demonstrate in-depth experience in a category of spend and how these skills can be transferred to a different category
Experience of purchasing for multiple operating companies/ business units/ P&L’s
In depth experience of identifying and working with suppliers across the world
Experience of working in more than one country
Ideally got experience in retail industry or experience of more than one industry sector
Skills and Qualifications
Degree qualified (BAC +4)
CIPs qualification
Good understanding of service contracts, maintenance contracts and slas
Likely to have further qualification in purchasing/ business
Empathetic with people – listens and takes on board requirements
Challenges existing purchasing practices in a positive way
Focuses on making change happen and has the influencing skills to do this
Tenacious in achieving results, keeps going when presented with setbacks
Proven negotiation skills
Curious – a desire to investigate and question
Open and transparent in working style
Capable of handling ambiguity and potential conflict
Good and demonstrable knowledge of contract law
Language skills
English and French
Additional language skills are an advantage (Russian, Spanish, Chinese, Polish, German)
Travel
Frequent within UK
Outside UK as necessary
