Barry Crocker BA (Hons) MCIPS

Barry is at present lecturing at The University of Salford following a varied career in the field of warehousing and physical distribution management. He is MSc Programme Leader for:

MSc Purchasing and Logistics
MSc Supply Chain Management

Barry has worked at the University since 1989. His work has involved the design and delivery of many modules in the areas of purchasing, operations management, logistics and supply chain management for the HND, DME, CIPS, undergraduate BA and MSc/ MBA programmes.

He is currently delivering the following programmes:

Procurement and Inventory Management
Procurement and Contracts Management
E-Procurement and E-Supply Chain
National and International Logistics
Supply Chain Management (MBA).

He has contributed to a new text entitled "Understanding Supply Chains", whilst assisting in the updating of several others. He is also a reviewer of new texts and has reviewed articles for international journals.

Barry has also written several distance learning training modules in the areas of procurement, stores, materials management and supply chain management and has considerable experience in the development of on-line learning.

His latest publication is a text entitled, "The Relationship Driven Supply Chain", published by Gower 2006.

In recent years, he has undertaken training and consultancy assignments for organisations such as Shell UK Materials Services, Lucas Engineering and Systems, The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, BRC, Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij.B.V, Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO), UK Intervention Board, NHS, Ericsson, British Aerospace and Shell International BV, Lhonro Goldfields (Ghana ). He has worked in many locations, including the Far East, the Middle East, South America, Europe and Africa. The majority of these events have been related to strategic issues in relation to supply chain management, logistics, warehousing, materials management and procurement.

Barry has been an external examiner for procurement and logistics programmes at the London Metropolitan University and for the MBA in Supply Chain Management at Leicester University. He has also been an examiner for the professional body, The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
