Professor David Jessop BA FCIPS FILog

David's early career involved him in various purchasing and supply related roles, beginning with a position in the machine tool industry and moving on through a management position with the English Electric Company to a role in the Copper Mining Industry in Central Africa.

In the 1970's, he entered the world of education and was one of the first group of lecturers to concentrate on the supplies specialism. During his career at the University of Glamorgan, David was responsible for the development of the first named degree in purchasing in the UK and managed the provision of large scale training programmes for a number of leading British industrial and commercial organisations.

David is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, a Fellow of the Institute of Logistics and was recently recognised as Emeritus Professor of Purchasing and Supply by the University of Glamorgan, following his retirement from that Institution.

He today concentrates on training and management development work in the fields of purchasing and supply chain management and contracting and negotiation. He has worked in this field throughout the UK and Europe and in many overseas countries including Bahrain, Brunei, Dubai, India, Malawi, Malaysia (East and West), Singapore, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Qatar, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

David is the joint author of three texts in the area of purchasing and supply, namely, Purchasing Principles and Management, (Pitman), A Dictionary of Purchasing and Supply, (Tudor Business Publishing) and Storage and Supply of Materials (Pitman). David is also a past Examiner for CIPS

These texts all occupy places in the top ten sellers list of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
