Gareth Jones MSc MCIPS

Gareth until recently was the Department of the Environment's Head of Procurement, a post he had held since December 1997. His career history in purchasing spans 25 years, initially with the Coal Board, then 22 years' involvement with purchasing in the Health Service in Wales, England and Northern Ireland.

Gareth has been a member of his professional body for 24 years, holds a Masters Degree in Purchasing from the University of Ulster, and chaired the Government's Forum for Procurement Coding.

Gareth is a Member of the Managing Committee of the International Purchasing and Supply Education Research Association. Before joining DETR he was Director of Central Procurement for Health and Personal Social Services in Northern Ireland.
