DPSS has developed a strategic relationship with NALP so that its members can benefit from access to specially designed courses and events (including free access to a range of unique web applications) designed to support NALP members achieve commercial success.

These courses are offered to NALP members at a discounted rate


Delivery Methodology

We adopt a proactive, participative, and participant centred approach with emphasis on the practical application of the tools, techniques and templates. The creation of post course Action Plans by the participants has always been the “experiential” dimension to all our courses.

We full appreciate the need to ensure that the learning is made relevant and up-to-date, to achieve this we make use of extensive use paralegal context – based case studies

Course Title: Commercial Skills for Paralegals
Duration: 1 Day

Aims:
To enable participant to understand the basic principles of commercial management in the context paralegal enterprises and to enable them to develop the commercials aspect

Target Audience
This workshop is designed for Paralegals (or aspiring) who wish to develop their business management skills in the context of setting up and/or managing their own practice and/our working in a group practice or partnership.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

– Gain an overview of business development skills which underpin effective business performance
– Appreciate and mitigate the commercial risks
– Understand and utilize a range of business development models including strategic planning
– Utilize a range of methods to gain and retain clients
– Understand and apply client relationship management techniques
– Develop and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLA) and contracts with clients

Course Title: Client Relationships Management Skill
Duration: 1 Day

Aims:
To provide participants with the skills, knowledge and competencies required to effectively create, develop, and manage a variety of client relationships and to enable the management of client expectations and outcomes

Target Audience:
This course is designed for paralegals who need to develop their skills and knowledge in the context of working with a range a client’s and situations, in an effective and efficient manner

Learning outcomes:
By the end of the programme participants will be able to:

– Understand the basic concepts of managing commercial relationships
– Utilize a range of tools and techniques to establish the most appropriate type of relationship, including the DPSS web application ©
– Appreciate the commercial importance of effective relationship management and its added value to the paralegal and the client

Course Title: Practical Contract Management
Duration:  1 Day

Aims:

To provide participants with an overview of the process of managing commercial contracts and agreements with both clients, contractors, and service providers to ensure contract performance, compliance and to reduce risk

Target Audience:
This course is design for those within the practice who are responsible for the effective management of commercial contracts and agreements.

Learning outcomes:
By the end the course the participants will be able to:

– Develop robust contract plans, including ITTs, RFQ, RFP, scope of work and award strategies
– Appreciate the legal aspects of contract management
– Negotiate effectively with key stakeholders, making use of the key skills of persuading and influencing and to work with stakeholders to improve outcomes
– Manage the process of disputes and claims
– Create and manage effect commercial relationships with contractors and suppliers
– Make effective use of lessons learned to promote improvements from less than optimal outcomes, using appropriate templates.
– Develop and monitor appropriate and robust Key Performance Indicators and SLA’s to manage contractor’s and facilitate improved performance
– Make appropriate use of best practice contract management tools, techniques and templates

Course Title: Marketing and Sales Management Skills for Paralegals
Duration: 1 Day

Aims:
This course is will enable paralegals to understand the marketing and sales process, in the context of paralegal and associated services, from researching the market to client contract signature. The course will highlight and how to utilize the various marketing and sales management techniques, tools, models, and frameworks.

Target Audience:
This course is designed for those who have direct or indirect responsibility

for the effective management and development of marketing and sales related activities across the organisation or need to understand them to ensure alignment.

Learning outcomes:
By the end of the programme participants will add value to the organisation by being able to:

– Understand marketing as an organisational function, business concept and organisational philosophy
